In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis and ensuing lockdown, SPANDAN: A Voice of Effort, created a remarkable campaign – “Breaking the Hunger Lockdown Together.” This need was born from the need to alleviate the hunger and ration requirements of the families of resilient Waste Warriors in the heart of the Bhopura community.
Like a wave of compassion, SPANDAN: A Voice of Effort distributed over 10,000 ration kits and 5,000 food packets to these families, forging a path of hope amidst uncertainty. This endeavor was made possible through the invaluable support and cooperation of the local government, in harmony with the Roti Bank Foundation and Zomato.
In a world gripped by crisis, we came together to ensure that no stomach went empty and no heart felt alone. This was not just a relief effort; it was a testament to the power of community, where unity and compassion painted a brighter tomorrow.
Harvesting Hope: The Program's Impact
This program has sown the seeds of change, providing not just meals but nourishment to the resilient Waste-Warriors, with a special focus on nurturing the health of children and pregnant women.
During the lockdown, our food distribution initiatives became the melody of compassion that resonated within local communities and villages, weaving bonds of trust and strengthening community participation in our endeavours.
In the heart of Bhopura community, our food distribution at the Learning Center proved to be a lifeline for Waste-Warriors in their time of need. It also played a pivotal role in inspiring these children to enroll in our online classes and home-based studies during the challenging times of COVID, cultivating a thirst for knowledge and learning. Together, we have sowed the seeds of hope and reaped the fruits of empowerment.
